Update from the Pelican River Watershed District
Three updates regarding the treatment:
- Due to low to no growth conditions, we have revised the maps for Detroit Lake and North Floyd. The maps are attached and will be posted on our website shortly.
- Lakes Sallie, Melissa and Curfman will NOT be treated due to no growth detected as of today.
- The treatment day has been rescheduled for Wednesday, May 27.
Flumioxazin herbicide will be used for the Curly-Leaf Pondweed treatments.
Do not irrigate with water from the treated areas: Food crops – 5 days, Ornamental plants – 3 days, Turf grass – 3 days
There are no label restrictions from the treated area for swimming (MN DNR recommends 1 day), drinking water, domestic uses, fish consumption, or livestock watering.
Staff at PRWD will re-survey our known areas of CLP infestation when temperatures warm up to prepare for next season.
We have seen years before where the CLP is not found in spring. The last time was 2023 and we saw a bounce back in 2024. Just as a reminder, we did complete a research study during the 2024 & 2025 seasons testing a new chemical herbicide. Fingers crossed that this lack of growth is a good sign for our lakes!
