Notice: Memorial Day Weekend Construction & Beach Access Updates
As we head into Memorial Day weekend, we want to provide the latest update on construction activity along West Lake Drive and at the City Beach.
West Lake Drive will remain closed from Minnesota Avenue to Washington Avenue. The current detour route utilizing Rossman Avenue and Forest Street will remain in place.
City Beach Access Update
The beach area will have partial access available over Memorial Day weekend.
▪️The sand beach from the Boat Launch to Lake Avenue is expected to remain open and usable.
▪️The turf area from east of the Boat Launch to Minnesota Avenue is expected to be open and usable. There will be some erosion control logs that will be on the turf side of the new beach walk.
▪️Parking and beach access from the Boat Launch to Minnesota Avenue is anticipated to be available.
Partially Closed/Limited Access:
▪️The west half of the beach (from Legion Road to the Boat Launch) will remain closed through Memorial Day weekend.
▪️The turf area from Minnesota Avenue to Lake Avenue will remain closed and fenced off.
For your safety, please do not enter fenced construction areas. These sections remain active construction zones and are closed to the public.
We appreciate everyone’s patience as construction continues. Our goal is to have as much beach access available as safely possible for the holiday weekend while keeping construction moving forward.
